Pan Mai Restaurant in Penetanguishene

We ordered takeout tonight. And I went into eating our meal (and even ordering items I thought would be simple) with low expectations so not to be disappointed. We literally left our food and repackaged it uneaten to be thrown out. The king pao chicken was disgusting, some strange combination of basically chicken balls in some odd sauce. The lo mein was saturated in soya sauce yet tasted gross. The won ton soup was questionable at best. And the fried rice was soggy and rubbery and tasted days old and nothing like fried rice. Save yourself $$ and order elsewhere or go order a pizza like we ended up doing...

Good food. Hot and sour soup amazing. Chicken balls good, not special but as good as any other.. maybe a bit above average. Would come back, and would recommend.

Better dining experience than restaurants in midland, quantity and quality worth your money, soup is very good. would visit again,

My favorite Chinese restaurant, and the only one I got to. I've been eating their food since I was like 4, I'm 21 now. It's my families choice forever and they do it really well. Also, big portions and well priced

Good food. We waited a long time for our take out but that was to be expected it was New years eve.

Fresh, made to order "old school" Chinese. The chicken balls were amazing as was the hot and sour soup. Very reasonably priced wine. The beefed and broccoli needed a bit of soy sauce, but came with a lot of broccoli (so good). This place hit the spot!

My first time visit after living here for 18 years in town, the food was delicious along with the serving portions- i tried their combo8 and thai mango, the servers are very friendly and courteous. Would visit again...and recommend.

One and a half hours for delivery? That's just crazy. I'm not impressed.

Had a very pleasant dine in with my family and friends, the food is very deliciuos and better then other Asian food i have tried in Midland or Orillia, would visit again.

Decent food

Very generous portions and tasty too. We ordered the vegetarian combo with mushrooms fried rice and almonds. Very yummy and reasonably priced. Service is very good too, and place is comfortable.

This is edible but not much more Chinese food. The chicken balls are some of the best you could find but beyond that I was disappointed. Celery in the beef and broccoli is wrong to me. Cantonese Chow Mein had what seemed like scraps of meat (very small pieces) and not much of it for a dish for $13.50. At the end of the day Chinese food is like pizza even when it's bad it's still food you can eat.

The portions were more generous than I ever had any where else, the restaurant was spotless. The chef is the owner, and the waitress co-owner/wife. Very friendly atmosphere. It is a must go place. Go when you are hungry, you will not be disappointed.

This was the most disgusting food I've ever had rice and chicken balls chicken chowmein and egg rolls GROSS!!!! I HAD TO GIVE A 1 STAR RATING CUZ IT WOULD NOT LET ME POST THIS REVIEW!!!! WONT RECOMMENDED THIS TO ANYONE!!!!!

You were the go to place to go although we have not ordered takeout for about a year. Very disappointed food was so salty we have decided to not order from you again.

I came back again after few months the new owners taken over, nice change in the ambience and the quality of the food has been so better than other chinese restaurant I have tried in the vicinity. Must try Combo#8, spring roll ( might take time to wait for this one). My spouse’s favourite was Thai Mango chicken, Chicken Balls & Wonton soup( very rich in flavour). Over all the servers will have a great smile on their face 😃 Look forward to visit in near future soon.

Don’t let the dining area fool you The kitchen is a complete and utter mess, they don’t belive using tongs or any utensil so your food and everything you eat is packed by bare hands (rice,chicken balls, egg rolls ect) and cross contaminating like I’ve never seen befor. I honestly can not say why they haven’t been closed for EXTREME health code violations, Joe tang should of never sold to this new Indian couple because they clearly don’t know anything about the Canadian food retail service code. Would rate zero if I could

The Pan Mai has new owners. Have only been in twice with new owners, but both have been excellent. Chicken balls were very good size, minimal breading, very good. The hot and sour soup was much improved over previous owners, apparently original soup recepie! Drop in any give it a try.

We ordered a few items just to try it out since it was our first time there. I love fried rice and I didn't like it here at all very bland and barely anything inside. I did however enjoy everything else. The server was nice but didn't check on us. We had to ask for refills. I would go again for a second try. It's average

Don't eat here if you are looking for quality Chinese food. USED to be very good but I don't think it's the same owners and everything we ordered was disgusting. For the second time in a few months we ordered takeout out and both times were not good at all. We complained about the meal (specifically eggs rolls) after the first time and the response we got was "that's the way we cook them, sorry." The eggs rolls didn't look or taste like any I've ever had. The chicken fried rice was mushy and practically wet. And the chicken chow main noodles were not cooked. Uncle Roys/ Double Happiness in Midland are your best bet.

Great taste in the food , combo 8 and Moo goo guy pan is my favourite...the quality has been best so far i tried various places in midland and penetang...keep up the tasty food specially the rice has flavour now..my kids loved it..

Long time customer of Pan Mai. I Purchased 3 combo dinners for a staff lunch. One was okay and was consumed, the other too were not. Returned to the restaurant with the containers of food uneaten. Was told I needed to speak to the manager who was on delivery. Left my name and phone number. After 4 hours and no call back I called and spoke to manager. I explained that the s&s ribs, were tough and chewy. They did not have bone,but rather sliced pork. The rice was mushy, over cooked. She gave me one excuse after another. I asked to have the dinners replaced or a credit. Was told that we had eaten most of the rice so would not provide any compensation. We had eaten perhaps two spoonful. Told her we would not be doing any further business and she said ok, and hung up. We have been a customer for years, no longer!!

Ordered take out all seemed reheated and some was burnt. Asked for vegetables and had one piece of green pepper and the rest looked like scraps. It smelled like dog food and looked like cat food. Do not eat there.

"Would you like to have the buffet or order from the menu?" "Buffet please." *walks over to buffet*ITS EMPTY. All there was was metal trays with scrappings. Waited and waited for food to come out... By the time food was brought out people rushed over and 10 seconds passed and empty and waiting again... If you know you're going to be busy....why isn't this a priority?????? Also had my partner ordered off the menu and he had to reorder 3 times as the order was not right, all 3 times. He then had to settle for a cold meal and they brought out his fillings from the FIRST DISH and told him they picked it out and they did not have time to fix him up a new plate. TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!Nothing was done to compensate this extremely replauing experience.

Food was cold and definitely reheated. Only waited about 3-4 minutes for my 60 dollars order. The taste was okay, would’ve gave 4 stars if the food was hot

Went to this restaurant tonight..what a disappointment...had chicken balls and rice...DISGUSTING..husband had chicken chow mein and steamed rice..DISGUSTING..COULDNT EAT THE FOOD AND WASTED $30...WOULD NEVER GO THERE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE..waitress was pleasant....MIDLAND Chinese restaurants are 100%better...

Food quality has gone down hill a lot. Ordered wonton soup tonight and it was the colour of soy sauce and the noodles were brown and had very little filling in it. Grossest wonton soup ever and had a bitter taste. Went in the garbage. Combos are not as good as they used to be and the chicken balls tasted like they had been leftovers reheated. Chicken also had a lot of grissle in it. Prob won’t order there again. Was not worth the money at all.

They made my Hubbi’s B.day special, at the end of meal which was a thai Mango chicken and singapore noodle(spicy).. had a Surprise b.day cake slice from the server with candle, was an emotional moment. Had a great time, thanks Pan Mai. You are a value addition to our community.

This is a must go place. Service is great prices for the amount of food you get is very reasonable. Love this place.

Friendly staff. Convenient location. Take-out dinner for three was mediocre tasting and greasy. Don't think we're going back.

I used to love Pan Mai. In my opinion they have gone down significantly the last couple years. I've tried a few times and after yesterday, I will never order from there again. Portions are smaller, prices are higher. Too long of wait time and cold food. Not only that, customer service was terrible!

This is our favourite Chinese restaurant. The service and food have been fantastic every time we've been there.

What happened to the food?? I was expecting chicken friend rice and I got some mush not even tasting like rice..Service was very pleasant.

I don't prefer eating outside, I am more of a  "home food" guy, but when I choose to eat outside I make sure that I don't end up in a restaurant with bad food n poor service. So after scanning thru' few restaurants I came across Pan Mai (which I believe translates to “Good Food” in English) and gazed thru’ mixed reviews, most of them were positive. So I thought of having my dinner at this place. My friend and I ordered a couple of Combos and single dishes. And, Oh my god, the food was so amazing, especially the Veg Chow Mein. Not only the food but their service is good too. And the best thing is u get both of these at a very less price. Not an expensive place to eat. I am planning to have a family dinner here very soon. I am sure my folks would love this place. That being said, I am going to give a five 🌟 rating for their food and service. PS: The lady manager, Neha was very humble and funny :)
